The trickiest part turned out to be taking delivery of the final product. SRG:SD really wanted a wrap-up meeting where they handed it over in person. They were convinced that SRG:DC was tying to keep them away from the client so they could take full credit. It took a bit of extreme social engineering to mollify them.
The funny part was that I already had the model. I'd been taking the drafts directly off their computers all the way along.
It's a very useful model for someone who knows what to do with it.
After the operation, we wiped our tracks from SRG's computers as best we could, then sent a nasty virus through their network to wipe as many hard disks as possible. They'll be so busy trying to patch things back together that they may never notice the discrepancies in their books.
I was satisfied with my boys' performance. Except for the self-described Lord of Goons. LoG turned out to be just a plain ordinary goon. He shirked his assignments, didn't meet deadlines, and produced sub-standard results. When things got bad toward the end, he threatened to tell SRG what we were doing. As though I have less to lose than him.

I just waited until it was time to cut a cheque for him. Then I got his real name. He is Jonathan Edmund Sloechuk of Lima, Ohio.
I've designated two guys, Thrasher and Black Phibre, to come down hard on him. Thrasher has started monitoring his trash. Black Phibre is a telephone phreak and is playing games with his phone service. They have already determined that he's twenty-three years old, but still lives with his parents. He attends junior college part-time and has never held a job for more than six months. They will find out more about him over the next couple of weeks. |
