I coloured this page black to match my mood.

We submitted a bid on a eight million dollar contract just last week and we have already been notified that our proposal was rejected. They said that it was non-compliant. Their exact words were, "This bid fails to meet even the most minimal requirements of the RFP. The evaluation team has asked whether SRG even read our requirement." Worse, we have been doing business with this same client for almost ten years. My boss is really making a big stink about it. He promised the client that SRG would remove me from their account and assign a new manager for future contracts. When he called me on the carpet, he told me that he would fire me and my whole group if he ever received an evaluation like that again.

You can't win them all.

But I didn't say that to my boss. He would have fired my ass right then and there if I didn't keep up the "yassir, yassir," routine.

I'm going to have to have a little conference with the boys. I thought that after all this time, they would be able to assemble at least one proposal without my having to dictate every word to them. They're mostly boilerplate, anyway. I think that was the problem. They submitted all boilerplate and no real proposal at all. I expected that Harry would take the lead on this one. I should fire his ass.

I'm going to have to take steps to protect myself around here. It would be impossible to find a new job at my current salary and level if they start rumouring around outside that I can't cut it any more.

You better believe that it's trés serious when my boss is willing to tell the client that I am off their case. If he's willing to trash my ass to save his, then he can't be trusted with anything.
